Featured Projects

In this assignment, students explore the themes of culture, diversity, and inclusion by creating and sharing a personal collage that visually represents their unique lived experiences. This activity serves as a powerful medium for self-expression and community building within the classroom. By viewing the collages of their peers, students gain insights into the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that enrich their learning environment.

Each collage acts as a personal narrative, illustrating the varied definitions of culture, ethnicity, and personal values through the lens of each student’s family history, experiences with diversity, accomplishments, hobbies, and aspirations. This collaborative experience not only enhances students' understanding of their own identity but also fosters a sense of empathy and inclusion as they acknowledge and celebrate the differences and similarities among their classmates

Voices from the Other Side

The "Voices From the Other Side" assignment directly addresses antiracism by encouraging students to reflect on and share their experiences with cultural diversity, including facing and overcoming racial prejudices and discrimination and how they would advise themselves at the beginning semester, based on what they have learned in the course. By fostering a dialogue about these personal experiences, the assignment aims to build empathy among students and a deeper understanding of systemic racism's effects on individuals.
